Farmville is one of the most popular Facebook games, and can also be played on farmville.com. Players have land on which they can plant trees or crops, or raise animals. They then harvest these plants or animals for money. Money can be used to buy more plants or animals, or to buy farm decorations, such as fences or houses. Players can also help out on friends' farms, join growing coops, and participate in special holiday themed events.
A player starts at level one. They earn experience points by participating in the game, by performing tasks like plowing, planting, and harvesting crops. They also get experience by purchasing things in the store. As the player levels up, more items are available for them to purchase. The game is very open-ended, and players can set their own goals. Some players might want to earn enough money to buy certain expensive items, while other players might want to be able to grow all the crops. Zynga is constantly coming up with more features to keep players interested in Farmville.
Crafting Cottages
Recently Farmville expanded its gameplay to include crafting cottages. Players can choose a spa, bakery, or winery. They must either grow bushels or get them from friends in order to create recipes. The recipes create products that can be sold to neighbors or used for fuel. Bushels can also be used for a temporary harvesting boost. Bushels are randomly awarded when a player harvests crops.
At first players have three recipes available. These recipes take six to eight bushels to make one product for the player, and two or three for them to sell to friends through the farmers' market. The bakery uses bushels such as wheat and strawberries to make breads and cakes. The spa uses bushels such as lilac and green tea to make perfumes and sachets. The winery uses bushels such as white grapes and tomatoes to make wines and mixers. Through leveling up the recipes and paying cash, the player can upgrade their crafting cottage to unlock more recipes. Also, each crafting cottage has two open slots for preparing each recipe (which takes 6 hours). Upgrading the crafting cottage allows up to six slots for preparation.
